IN-SERVICE — Beyond the Bruises: The Role of Coercion and Control of Victims of Intimate Partner Violence (Module 1a)
Mon, February 24 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pmFree
Guardian ad Litem, in partnership with The Spring, is honored to provide this extensive two-part domestic violence in-service for GAL staff and volunteers at Bell Shoals Baptist Church, 2102 Bell Shoals Road in Brandon. Our presenter will be Jen Shtab, Hillsborough County Coordinated Community Response to Domestic Violence Trainer.
Module 1 will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., on Monday, February 24, and will be repeated later that evening from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Attendees need only attend the daytime OR evening session, NOT BOTH! This module will help attendees define domestic abuse, and will examine the multitude of barriers to safety that batterers create for their partners and family members. Attendees will identify the systematic obstacles being addressed through a Coordinated Community Response and understand cultural considerations impacting the safety of families.
Module 2 will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., on Monday, March 9, and will be repeated later that evening from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Attendees need only attend the daytime OR evening session, NOT BOTH! This module will focus on understanding how batterer behavior impacts children, and how batterers continue their abuse through court and child custody processes. Attendees will explore how to create DV-informed child welfare professionals, communities, and systems. NOTE: YOU MUST ATTEND MODULE 1 IN ORDER TO ATTEND MODULE 2.
All attendees MUST register using the RSVP function below!
